“Mi Primera Rumba”「私の最初のルンバ」

When I was in the lower grades of elementary school (3rd to 4th grade),
a captivating tune would emanate from the electric speaker
in a neighborhood electronics shop.

It was a melody that danced through the air, playful and intriguing.
Reflecting on it now, I realize it was the “Rumba Tamba” played by
the Lecuona Cuban Boys,　though I was unaware at the time.

The rhythm of Rumba, kept by “claves,” had a bright and light sound,
like the cheerful ticking of a clock, which never failed to enchant me.

Whenever I heard this tune, I would dash to the front of the shop,
my young heart skipping along to the beat, and listen intently.

Inspired by those cherished memories, I composed my own rumba tune:

小学校低学年の頃（３年生～４年生）、近所の電気屋さんのスピーカーから
心を引きつける曲が流れていました。

空中を舞うような、遊び心に満ちた興味深いメロディでした。今となっては、
それがレクォーナ・キューバンボーイズの奏でる「ルンバ・タンバ」だった
ことに気づいていますが、当時はそのことを知りませんでした。

明るく軽快な「クラベス」のリズムは、楽しい時計のカチカチ音のようで、
私を魅了しました。この曲が聞こえると、私は店の前まで走っていき、
小さな心がリズムに合わせて跳ねるようにして熱心に聴き入りました。

そんな大切な思い出に触発されて、私は自分のルンバの曲を作りました：

Latin music genre that originated among the African inhabitants of Cuba.
It is also a rhythm and a dance. Also known as the ‘Dance of Love’.
